Founded in 1897, Bradley University is an independent, privately endowed, coeducational institution, located on a 75 acre, park-like campus in the heart of Peoria, Illinois, a city located on the banks of the Illinois River. Located half-way between major cities of Chicago to the north, St. Louis to the south, and Indianapolis to the east, the Peoria metro area includes nearly 350,000 residents and is the cultural, medical and retail center for downstate Illinois.
Peoria offers many cultural amenities including a symphony orchestra, a ballet troupe and professional theater companies, and is the headquarters for major employers such as Caterpillar, four major hospitals, the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, and a regional center for innovation and research. Other employers in the area include Komatsu, Mitsubishi, and several large banking and financial institutions.
Bradley provides a broad choice of academic and pre-professional programs with more than 100 undergraduate programs of study in five colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Education and Health Sciences, College of Engineering and Technology, Foster College of Business Administration, and Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts. The Graduate School awards degrees in over 30 academic areas, including Civil, Construction, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Manufacturing, and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Information Systems, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, English, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Fine Arts, and Education.
